Meeting of the Mayor of Visaltia with the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni
The Mayor of Visaltia, Mr. Athanasios Maslarinos, had a meeting with the Minister of Culture, Mrs. Lina Mendoni, during the Minister’s visit to the area of Amphipolis on Sunday, March 13, 2022.
During the meeting, the Mayor stressed, among other things, the very good cooperation he has with the Tax Office of Antiquities of Serres and the Head Mrs. Dimitria Malamidou, who was also present at the meeting.
Mr. Maslarinos and Mrs. Malamidou informed the Minister about the course and the findings of the excavation in Nigrita and what is planned at the archeological site of Terpni.
They also discussed the issue of the development of the Maro Tower and the surrounding area, for which Mrs. Mendoni promised to submit it for funding in the new NSRF, since, as it seems, the project file is mature. Another important issue that was explored during the meeting was the possibility of creating an archeological museum in the Municipality of Visaltia.
Regarding the above, the Minister asked the Mayor and Mrs. Malamidou to prepare a complete file and send it to the Ministry of Culture, so that the issues can be examined and promoted.
